I’ve been lucky enough to make some wonderful friends, meet many amazing birds and aviculturists and have had some very unique experiences in my role as Vice President. Many of us have a wish list of parrots that we would like to encounter so when the chance presents itself, you move heaven and earth to make it happen. This was the case when I recently was offered the chance to spend time with two friends in a unique location with a very special bird – Sirocco the Kakapo.
   

 
         
 



 
   

When most people think about the Cook Islands, they think of tropical beaches, snorkelling in crystal clear lagoons and hula dancers in colourful grass skirts. The fact that you can see two beautiful little Vini Lorikeets seems like the icing on the cake. This is actually a good opportunity for bird watchers who have partners or family members that are not interested in birds.
