PSOA News May - June 2012 Volume 22 Issue 3

Long standing and loyal members will almost certainly recall the July/August issue of Parrot News back in 2007 when I broke the news of Shambala, the Lutino Blue and Gold Macaw, having been bred here in Australia. Whilst we can confirm that Shambala and its normal coloured sibling are still alive and well, we are once again absolutely delighted to be able to advise PSOA Inc. members that ANOTHER two NSL lutino Blue and Gold Macaws have been bred recently by a lucky breeder, this time in Queensland.

The purpose of this article is to help aviculturists better understand the requirements of these endearing little parrots by comparing the nesting and feeding habits in the wild and to improve the way we care for them in our aviaries. I hope this will help those who already have the Red-browed Fig Parrot and encourage others to keep these little emerald green gems.
