Successful conventions don't just happen. They take months of preparation and extensive planning to make sure your experience is both enjoyable and rewarding for your registration dollar. We value your support of and investment in avicultural education and trust that you will have a great Parrots 2008.

Stewart Williamson
Stewart is an accomplished aviculturist with decades of experience in breeding and hand raising many Australian native and exotic parrot species. He now specialises in large and small macaws and was one of the original syndicate members to import new bloodlines into Australia in the early 90's. Stewart is the current Parrot Society of Australia Inc. President; a position he has consecutively held since 1988. He has presented at numerous club meetings both in Australia and New Zealand and knows first hand what an avicultural audience expects from a guest speaker. Stewart brings a strong understanding for parrot breeder content and new avicultural trends to the organisation of Parrots 2008. With the administrative support of his wife Sue, they form a strong team to coordinate the registrations and key components of Parrots 2008. This is his fifth ‘Parrots' convention as an organiser.

Jim McKendry
Jim is a biology teacher with a dedicated interest in connecting the behaviours we see amongst psittacines in the wild with those we observe in captivity; helping people deepen their appreciation of the links. He has worked professionally as a presentations keeper at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, an experience that further enhanced his avian training skills with a range of species, such as raptors, waterbirds and of course parrots. Since 2005 Jim has continued his association with Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, developing and presenting 'Parrot Behaviour and Enrichment Workshops.' He is an active member of the International Association of Avian Trainers and Educators. Jim brings his extensive knowledge of companion parrot behaviour and parrot conservation to Parrots 2008. This is his fifth ‘Parrots' convention as an organiser and second as a presenter.

Shane Hancock
Shane has kept and bred a variety of birds for most of his life with parrots being his long-time avicultural passion. He joined the Parrot Society of Australia Inc. in 1989 and has held a position on the Management Committee for as long as he has been a member. After a decade's absence from the Society with work commitments in isolated locations, he returned in 2004 to pick up where he left off. Currently, Shane holds the elected position as Promoter and manages the advertising and editorial portfolios for the club. He has raised the Society's international profile during his tenure and brings his event organisational skills to the team. Shane is coordinating all promotion, trade exhibition area and housekeeping for Parrots 2008 as well as co-presenting the junior aviculturist program. It is his second Parrots convention.
